A palette from a color, an image, or a website
Three ways to start
Pick a starting color and a mood: balanced, warm, cool, bold or calm. Five colors are calculated in this browser: the one you picked, a nearby color, an accent, a dark ink and a light paper. No model is called, and the color is not sent away.
Or drop a PNG, JPG or WebP, or paste from the clipboard. The browser shrinks the picture into five or six colors and folds near-duplicates together. A preview sits beside the swatches. The file is not uploaded, and no model is called.
Or paste a website address. That page is fetched on the server. Colors come from the theme color, the CSS, and a small logo, icon or share image. No model is called. If the page cannot be read, the tool says so.
The same swatches, whichever way you started
Copy the hex codes, one per line, or download palette.css. The file sets one custom property per swatch, starting at --color-1. A color, an image and a website all end at that same export.
Type a brand name and save. After you create an account, the colors land on the brand. The picture and the address are not stored. The brand project is where the palette stays.
Which start fits
Start from a color when you are still choosing. Start from an image when the colors already live in a photo, a logo file or a screenshot. Start from the website when the page already publishes them.
Contrast is not measured here, and swatches are not assigned to text or accent. The guide below is that choice. The brand check still reads type and a logo.
Questions about the palette
Does a model pick the colors?
No. Color and image are calculated in the browser. A website is fetched on the server. No model is called.
Is the picture uploaded?
No. The image is read in this browser. It is not sent to Marshi, and it is not kept.
What does the website read?
The theme color, colors in the page CSS, and the main colors of a small logo, icon or share image when one can be fetched. White, black and grey are left out unless the page is mostly made of them.
What can I copy without an account?
The hex list, or palette.css with one custom property per color. The export is the same for a color, an image and a website.
What is saved on the brand?
The brand name and the colors, once you save and create an account. The image file and the website address are not part of that save.
The swatches are a start. The guide is how to decide what each color is for.
